I was born into a typical Vietnamese peasant family (not important). The status quo would have had me marry early in search of stability, as is our custom away from the big cities. I, however, dared to dream bigger. Over the years, I have developed certain qualities that have brought me fortunate opportunities in my education and working career.
I yearn for improvement, truth, and beauty. These things I hold dear in my heart, and I strive to live up to my principles in everything I do. I am convinced that our actions in the community and the economy should serve our local and broader communities in terms of progress and development. THINK BIG, THINK COMMUNITY!
In my search for solutions to many of my region’s issues, I have realized the significance of a global perspective and cross-cultural experience. We’re all in this together, and it’s only together that we’ll make the kind of difference I envisioned as a younger student.
Simultaneously, I seek to raise people’s awareness of globally shared yet locally felt problems, especially among the youth, and inspire them to join the effort in developing solutions moving forward.
It is in this spirit that I am launching Your My Local, in the hopes of matching the right locals with unsurpassed knowledge of their local regions and the skills that will bridge the gaps between our developing communities and the wishes of conscientious travelers.
My experience informs me that an improved understanding between local hosts and tourists would result in a superior tourism paradigm. While this problem may sound unsurmountable large scale and long term, I believe in the power of individual actions that add up to solutions for the collective.
My vision is to enrich all travelers’ and locals’ cross-cultural familiarity and to open up opportunities for locals to advance their education.
While I do aim to improve the communities at large, I am specifically targeting the population of progressive youth, not only because of their inherent open-mindedness but also their most advantageous position, by which I mean their command of the English language, to live successfully and productive lives in an increasingly globalized world.
Your My Local is the type of business that allows me to connect with hundreds of young people worldwide. This offers us a valuable opportunity to exchange views and customs and promote respect and integration.

Long is the founder of Hue’s Freedom Hostel and Your My Local, among other local initiatives centered around supporting entrepreneurialism and tourism. He is passionate about hospitality and tourism and works tirelessly to build up his community so that it may become an ideal place for natives to come to visit and work in, as well as for foreigners to experience the warmth and wonders of Vietnam. He also plays a mean guitar!
Based in Sydney, Australia, with French and Vietnamese roots, he works in Education and has a keen interest in languages and a passion for sharing his knowledge of Maths, English, French, and (now, some) Vietnamese. He dreams of making a modest positive impact on Vietnam and the world, starting in Hue by uplifting the local people. He also loves a good game of charades!
The first tour was over fifteen years ago, and from that moment on, the name EasyRider grew and evoked among my friends the image of local curators sharing their insights with travelers from all over the world.
This is what we’ve been trying to do here at Your My Local, so please consider supporting us! He wants to build Hue in detail and Vietnam in general, as well as become a place that allows locals to stay and work, offering sufficient travel experience to tourists.
